American Lands Alliance, a non-profit that works on National Forest policy issues, is currently accepting applications for the position of Director of Development.

Application Deadline: July 20, 2007

RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Director of Development will be responsible for working with the Executive Director to raise the organization's annual budget including developing and implementing strategies for achieving the budget goals. S/he will coordinate major gifts campaigns, as well as annual special events. The Director of Development will be responsible for writing letters of solicitation, corresponding with and responding to requests from the organization's supporters; drafting and editing funding proposals, grant reports, and other related documents. Additionally, the Director of Development will coordinate the Development Committee of the Board of Directors.

QUALIFICATIONS:
The ideal candidate will be a creative thinker and excellent communicator. The candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree and 5+ years of experience in development and management with a proven track record of fundraising success. S/he must have a broad knowledge of fundraising tactics, including major gifts, grant writing and related revenue producing methods. S/he must have strong writing and computer skills. Past experience in advocacy oriented fundraising in the environmental movement—and especially forest conservation issues—is preferred. Deadline for application: July 20, 2007

Web Development and Communications Internship

American Lands Alliance, a non-profit that works on national forest policy issues, is looking for a talented, self-motivated intern to aid with web development and communications in our Capitol Office in Washington, DC.

Among expected responsibilities are:
• Maintaining existing web pages and help with design changes
• Ensure American Lands receives best Google results possible
• Track lated web technology to ensure American Lands is up to date on best technology to communicate with supporters
• Learn Democracy in Action, our supporter database and e-communications program, and help train staff on available tools
• Assist Development Director in the distribution of communications materials to supporters via web and traditional media

Qualifications:
• Must know HTML
• PHP and MySQL preferred
Self-motivation and a teamwork mentality are also critical in our small office.

Start/end date, hours and schedule are negotiable.

Forest Advocate Internship

American Lands Alliance, a non-profit that works on National Forest policy issues, is looking for a talented, self-motivated intern to aid with work in our Capitol Office in Washington, DC.

Among expected responsibilities are:
• Attending Senate/House hearings
• Help organize events
• Research information for materials American Lands creates
• Write factsheets and alerts on issues related to the forest movement
• Aid with fundraising efforts
• Collect media hits and important press articles for our website
• Help with website upkeep
• Help with other administrative tasks in the office

Qualifications:
Familiarity with environmental and political issues is a plus. Self-motivation and a teamwork mentality are critical in our small office.

Start/end date, hours and schedule are negotiable. We generally hire one or two interns for fall, winter, spring, and summer.
